The Four Seasons and Visual Art (Autumn)

Vivaldi's Concerto No. 3 in F major Op. 8 (or 'Autumn') from The Four Seasons is also known as the "Danza Pastorale, because of it's celebration of the pleasure of the rich harvest and the 'freely flowing cup of Bacchus'. So, based on this theme, we've been exploring some of our favourite images related to it:

2. Paul Gaugin (1848-1903)

The Four Seasons and Visual Art (Summer)

Here's some of our favourite representations of Summer in visual art. We've focused on 'storm', as Vivaldi's Concerto No. 2 in G minor Op. 8, RV 315 "L'estate" (Summer) evokes a thunderstorm in it's final movement and is often in fact called 'Storm'.

1. Howard Hodgkin (1932 – present)

2. Peter Lanyon (1918-1964)

3. Henry Moore (1898-1986)
